Problem:
Mold discovered during a building inspection scares buyers to the point where they were ready to walk away.
Cost Estimates:
To make matters worse, the first cost estimates to correct the problem were $53,000 and $68,000 from two different contractors. Both estimates included large amounts of demolition and re-construction.

Cause of the Mold:
The mold problem developed due to the home being unoccupied and the relative humidity exceeding 65% for a prolonged summer season.
Another Evaluation:
Wellington Environmental was invited to inspect and provide a plan for the necessary remediation. Examining the impacted building materials found that 80% of the mold was surface mold which had not penetrated the walls or ceilings. A plan was developed to use specific chemicals and anti-microbial agents along with engineering controls. The plan also came with a guarantee for the buyer.

Result:
The plan was accepted by both parties and the real estate deal was closed. The added research performed by Wellington Environmental resulted in a significant savings of $41,500.
