A major hospital in St. Louis has called in the Wellington Environmental team to deep clean its entire emergency department. A primary reason the facility requested our support is due to its environmental services (EVS) staff feeling burnt out from the additional overtime and added stress of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
After consulting with the emergency department director, EVS team and infection prevention team, the hospital felt it would be beneficial to bring in a professional crew to perform the deep clean (normally called “terminal cleaning” within a hospital) of every surface in the entire department.
Over the course of three, late-night shifts, our terminal cleaning team disinfected all exam rooms, floors, walls, counter tops, supply vents, curtain poles, nursing station, etc. in the emergency department – approximately 10,000 square feet.
