Asbestos Awareness Training
All trades that work in buildings containing asbestos are required under OSHA to have Asbestos Awareness Training on an annual basis. The Regulation was written as part of a settlement between a New York trade union vs. the EPA in an effort to protect workers in buildings from being exposed to asbestos.
The Asbestos Awareness Training is designed to inform workers of typical building material products that can contain asbestos and the health issues related to exposure. The training class takes place over two hours and covers the following:
- What is Asbestos?
- Types of Asbestos
- Friable vs. Non-Friable
- ACM, PACM & Recognizing Damaged Asbestos
- Corporate Policy & Protocols
- Products Containing Asbestos
- Health Effects
- Regulations and O&M
- Appropriate Protocols
Wellington Environmental was involved in defending the United States Army through the Pentagon’s JAG Department in arbitration cases across the country related to asbestos. Wellington wrote and copyrighted a corporate guideline manual for safe handling and communication of asbestos hazards called Reasonable Care®. Corporations, institutions, and hospitals across the country purchased the Reasonable Care® program to protect their employees from asbestos exposure and to document their actions.
Our Asbestos Awareness Training program is filled with photos and examples to help familiarize workers of potential exposure.

Legionella Water Management Plans
Legionella Water Management Plan Training is for long-term care facility administrators and hospitals to aid in preventing Legionella contamination. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Legionella is not only the number one cause of waterborne disease outbreaks in the United States, but it also the most expensive. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) memo referring to the ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188 requires Medicare and Medicaid certified long-term care facilities to implement preventative measures to minimize the growth and transmission of Legionella in order to maintain certification. Our training simplifies a complex program and inexpensively provides compliance by customizing your Legionella Water Management Program.
